Body in Balance is a hands-on approach to learning the anatomy and creating an effective method to balance the body. Using all the steps within this method, you can apply the most appropriate techniques for your client’s postural, physical and emotional well-being. Using visual and hands-on techniques, you will find that anatomy comes to life, muscle movements and pathologies will become palpable. More importantly, you will become more aware of the specific modalities needed to address your individual clients’ needs using the Body in Balance method.

Every class will contain a lecture portion that will discuss the Body in Balance method. You’ll become acquainted with all the steps, theory, and how to become more effective with your clients. Every region will have an in-depth look at the anatomy, physiology and common pathologies your client’s may experience.
The other 73% of the class is hands on application. We will draw the muscles on each other, place muscles into contracted and stretched states in order to have a visual representation of postural and movement dysfunction. The hands-on learning continues with demos and an exchange of bodywork using the Body in Balance Method.

Objectives:
Following the completion of this class, students attending Body in Balance will:
Be able to perform a massage based on the Body in Balance method steps.
Be able to recognize anatomical structures of the
Be able to name some pathologies of region.

Learning outcomes:
Correctly name all steps of Body in Balance method
Apply appropriate massage techniques to the region based on client needs

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:

Samantha Snair Yancey has been a practicing massage therapist since 2003.

Currently instructing at theAtlanta School of Massage where she has been a passionate teacher since 2006.

Her favorite subjects are musculoskeletal anatomy & aromatherapy.

In 2019, Samantha became Board Certified and wrote an
article on the effects of heat & the cardiovascular system, which was published in Massage Magazine.

In her downtime from teaching, Samantha is completing a clinical aromatherapy certification and working to expand her online educational platform.
