Talk and Breath Enhanced Massage

SUBJECT:
Massage Therapists

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Course Description

12 Hours CEU

This course is a hands-on class that joins Guided Imagery and Guided Breathwork with
therapeutic massage. What should a client think about when getting a massage? The
mind follows the body in relaxation. Asking a client to take a deep breath or to focus on a
mental image can be useful in that it creates a conversational break if the client is very
talkative or having trouble relaxing.   Encouraging the client to focus on their breath assists
the therapist in quieting their mind. These mind/body interventions can access the
sympathetic nervous system and begin a cascade of beneficial physiological processes, like
lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. The exercises you will learn will transform your
service into a multisensory experience that transcends your standard massage and enhances
your client’s experience.
What you will experience in this class:

1. The use of Imagery in the healing arts
2. How to prepare for a guided meditation physically and vocally
3. Learn and perform coached breathing exercises
4. Learning to identify which clients would benefit from guided meditation
5. Choosing an imagery exercise and how to improvise one
6. Perform a curated series of strokes to join with the voice work
7. Write and perform your own guided meditation in a hands-on service
